WELCOME

The Office of the Auditor General is an independent audit office serving Ontario's Legislative Assembly. Our office is in Toronto, and our staff of about 90 people conduct independent value-for-money, attest, and compliance audits of government programs, numerous agencies of the Crown, and organizations in the broader public sector that receive government grants (such as hospitals, colleges, universities, school boards, and other organizations meeting the definition of grant recipient). We also independently audit the fairness of the financial statements of the province. In doing so, the Office assists the Legislature in holding the government and its administrators accountable for the administration's stewardship of public funds and for the achievement of value for money in government and public-sector operations. We thus contribute to better-managed government programs and better accountability to the Legislature and the public.
