Below is a brief description of the performance audits and reports currently in progress.

Artificial Intelligence Adoption in the Ontario Government

This audit plans to examine the Ontario Public Service (OPS) strategy and supporting governance framework for the use of artificial intelligence technology in the OPS.

Access to Primary Care

This audit plans to examine the processes of the Ministry of Health, in conjunction with Ontario Health, to: plan and oversee programs, initiatives and physician funding models to improve patients’ access to primary care; and to measure and report on their effectiveness.

Canada-wide Early Learning and Child Care Program

This audit plans to examine the Ministry of Education’s systems and procedures to meet the objectives of the Canada-wide Early Learning and Child Care Agreement.

Commercial Truck Driver Licensing

This audit plans to examine the Ministry of Transportation’s processes and systems under its existing and expanding mandate to design and oversee the delivery of commercial truck driver training, examination and licensing programs, and to monitor truck drivers based on road safety risks and take timely actions.

Family Responsibility Office

This audit plans to examine the Family Responsibility Office’s systems, processes and policies for: enforcing child and spousal support obligations; accounting for, and distributing, receipts from support payors to recipients; using human resources; and evaluating and reporting on its effectiveness in enforcing support obligations.

Home Construction Regulatory Authority

This audit plans to examine the Home Construction Regulatory Authority’s systems, processes and policies to license and regulate home builders and vendors, and to protect consumers when purchasing a home.

Management of Personal Protective Equipment and Critical Supplies and Equipment

This audit plans to examine Supply Ontario’s processes and procedures for managing the provincial stockpile program of Personal Protective Equipment and Critical Supplies and Equipment.

Metrolinx Subway Station Selection

This audit plans to examine Metrolinx’s processes and procedures for selecting subway stations, with a focus on the Ontario Line and the Yonge North Subway Extension projects.

Operation of the Environmental Bill of Rights, 1993 (EBR)

This annual audit plans to examine the public’s use of their EBR rights and the Province’s implementation of its EBR responsibilities.

Oversight of Medical Education in Family Medicine

This audit plans to examine the Ministry of Health’s and the Ministry of Colleges, Universities, Research Excellence and Security’s processes to plan for medical school seats expansion for family medicine and monitor that the additional seats announced in 2022 and 2023, as related to family medicine, are being implemented as intended.

Oversight of Physician Billing

This audit plans to examine the Ministry of Health’s systems and procedures for identifying, preventing and reviewing inappropriate physician billings, and for taking effective and appropriate corrective actions in a timely manner.

Report on Progress to Reduce Greenhouse Gas Emissions

This report plans to review progress on activities to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in Ontario and government progress in meeting requirements under the Cap and Trade Cancellation Act, 2018.

Resource Productivity and Recovery Authority (RPRA)

This audit plans to examine RPRA’s processes and systems for regulating producers of batteries, tires, lighting, electronics, hazardous products and blue box materials under the Resource Recovery and Circular Economy Act, 2016. This audit also plans to examine the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks’ oversight of RPRA’s performance.

Review of Government Advertising

This annual report reviews government advertising and related government spending under the Government Advertising Act, 2004.

Skills Development Fund – Training Stream

This audit plans to examine the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development’s processes and systems for managing the Skills Development Fund Training Stream.

Special Education Needs

This audit plans to examine the procedures of the Ministry of Education and selected school boards for: assessing the extent to which special education programs and services meet students’ needs; and for ensuring that programs and services comply with legislation, regulations and policies regarding special education, and are delivered economically and efficiently.
